WASHINGTON, D.C. - Americans are expected to eat at least seven billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

The Council estimates that Americans eat 20 billion hot dogs each year, but more are eaten in the warm weather months when the grills are fired up and hot dogs have that great barbecued taste.

Washington, D.C. – In an election year where nothing seems certain, Americans are frank about their top concession at the ballpark as the hot dog remains the favorite food for fans from Fenway to San Francisco Bay.

According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council’s 2012 report on Major League ballparks, Americans will consume 20.5 million hot dogs this season, enough to round the bases 28,489 times, and if laid end to end would stretch from the new Marlins Ballpark in Miami to Coors Field in Denver.

Washington, D.C., October 3, 2011 — Americans and sausage remain inherently “linked”according to a new poll commissioned by the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council and conducted online by Harris Interactive from August 16 – 18, 2011 among 2,112 U.S. adults on the eve of National Sausage Month in October.

More than four in five U.S. adults (82 percent) eat sausage, according to the poll. This includes 87 percent of men and 77 percent of women.

Washington, D.C.– The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council today declared an act of violence against Tiger Woods that involved a hot dog ‘reprehensible.’

“The use of an iconic food in an act of violence against an iconic golfer like Tiger Woods is reprehensible -- and a violation of hot dog etiquette.
